ALPHA-STIM for the Relief and Management of Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia and Chronic Pain
Alpha-Stim is a medical device used worldwide by physicians, healthcare professionals and many Military Medical Centers. This technology is an effective non-pharmacological choice for the treatment of anxiety, depression, insomnia and pain management. It is regulated by the FDA. Patient surveys indicate it has helped 90% of patients who tried it and is supported by 95% of independent research studies.
Alpha-Stim uses two protocols: Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) and Microcurrent Electrical Therapy (MET). CES uses an electrical current of less than one-half milliamphere, delivered directly to the brain via an earlclip electrode for 20 to 60 minutes to treat anxiety, depression or insomnia. MET also uses the same small amount of current via self-adhesive electrodes taped to various body parts for 2 to 5 minutes for the treatment of chronic pain.
Published research indicates that Alpha-Stim activates groups of cells in the brain stem that produce the neurotransmitters serotonin and acetylcholine that can affect efferent pathways into the brain and afferent pathways down the spinal chord amplifying activity in some areas and deactivating activity in others. This neurological “fine-tuning” is called neuromodulation. This neuromodulation may cause or co-occur with an electrical activity pattern in the brain known as an alpha state. Research has shown improvement even after a single treatment. Repeated treatments can stabilize the effects and return aspects of the nervous system back to normal functioning.
Four reasons to try Alpha-Stim include:
- Proven Efficacy
- Cost Effectiveness
